THE TWO ROADS

The Two Roads is a poem that talks about the two ways that Maritza Mondragon, the author, has. One that is the left represents the bad because that is the one that society proposes to people, and the author thinks that is bad because that is not what the person really wants. the other way is the right and the good because is the one that people elect but by themselves, that is to say what the heart of that people want. that is why the author mentions in the poem that the bad is dark and full of misfortunes and regrets and the good is full of hope and happiness. The message can be "Never is too late", because the author once took the wrong option but then she tried and could turn to the right place and way. And the theme could be "Hope" because the author always had the hope of doing what wanted to do until she got that goal.

WHY WAS I BORN

This poem talks about a man that was born inside a mexican family. He was called just as his older brother and his father. But his father died when he was very young and his brother did later. He says in the poem that he and is family moved to U.S where his mother got 3 more daughters but that he did not want them so much because he wanted his brother. so, the author wrote the poem to remember his brother. In this poem the Message could be "Not Everything is Just as Everyone Wants" because the author mentions that he misses his brother but he can not do anything to avoid or prevent what happened to his brother and what his mother did concerning the daughters that she got. And the Theme could be "Disatisfaction" because the author is not agree with most of the life that he had, with the daughters and the events that he experienced.

The poem talks abaut the routine that a woman, who is the anthor, has. She mentions what she does during the day that is to take care of the house and to take care of her, by doing the same routines that a woman can do when she gets up every morning such as to comb her hair and to watch television. The message could be "People have to find a better sense to their life" because the author shows that she is like bored doing the same thing all the time in her house. So, people have to avoid falling in that terrible deep. The Theme could be "Boredom" because the author is like tired of having that monotomy in her life.
